Eternal Word Television Network is dedicated to the advancement of truth as defined by the magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. The mission of the Eternal Word Television Network is to serve the orthodox belief and teaching of the Church as proclaimed by the Supreme Pontiff and his predecessors.
The goal of the Eternal Word Television Network is to provide the means by which the various organizations within the Church will have a nation-wide vehicle of expression. This will be provided for them without charge as long as their spirituality remains within the theological context of Mother Church. This is best evidenced by the acceptance of the Dogmas, Rules and Regulations of the church in all matters, but especially as they relate to the topics on which their television presentation is based.
As the Eternal Word Television Network exist to provide a media for orthodox endeavors, this mission statement should be viewed as the basis of our foundation for this essential spiritual growth ministry, not as an attempt to censor any organization or individual.
Founded more than 44 years ago by a Poor Clare of Perpetual Adoration (PCPA), Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation, EWTN is a global network dedicated to proclaiming the Truth of Jesus Christ to the nations. EWTN’s 11 global TV channels are broadcast in multiple languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 435 million television households in more than 160 countries and territories. EWTN platforms also include digital streaming on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Google TV, and other services; radio via SIRIUS/XM, iHeart Radio, and over 600 domestic and international AM & FM radio affiliates; one of the largest Catholic websites in the U.S.; electronic and print news services, including Catholic News Agency, National Catholic Register newspaper, and several global news wire services; as well as EWTN Publishing, its book publishing division. Through all of this, EWTN reaches countless hearts around the world with the message of the Gospel.
April 20th, 1923–March 27th, 2016
When Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) was launched on Aug. 15, 1981, many felt there would be little demand for a Catholic network. In fact, when Mother M. Angelica, a cloistered nun, fulfilled a promise to our Lord in the early 1960s by founding Our Lady of Angels Monastery in Irondale, Ala., she had no idea she would one day found the largest religious media network in the world.
EWTN is brought to you, by you! The Network relies entirely on the prayers and generosity of our viewers and listeners to sustain and expand our global mission. Discover the impact of your faithful support.
