Discovering Tomorrow’s Catholic Filmmakers and Content Creators

The EWTN Studios Lux Student Film Contest, originally under the banner “Cool to Be Catholic,” was created in 2016 to encourage aspiring filmmakers. The contest is open to high school, college, and film school students. The contest asks the contestants to “Write it. Shoot it. Share it.”

Each year, we ask entrants to submit a two-minute film with an inspirational or faith-filled theme, such as Eucharistic Adoration, the sanctity of life, the Catholic Church through the eyes of youth, or the challenges of living as a young Catholic today.

The 2016 winner in the film school category has embraced a career in series production, commercial work, and video directing—all while attending Mass every day. And some of the previous winners are now working at EWTN.

With this contest, the younger generations are inspired to create powerful media that reflect their faith.

Liturgical Seasons

It is therefore Jesus Christ Himself who is the source as well as the object of the liturgy; and hence the ecclesiastical year, which we have undertaken to explain in this work, is neither more nor less than the manifestation of Jesus Christ and His mysteries, in the Church and in the faithful soul.
